What’s your word for 2020?

What’s your word for 2020?

Last year in December I purchased a planner for 2020. Little did I know this planner would bring me more than just organised days/weeks/months. It prompted me to call my old coach and have a coaching session. That coaching session did so much more than just organise me for the year ahead.

Have you ever worked with a coach? The best thing I did for my career was find the right coach and work with them and I have done so for the past 3 years. If you think you know what you want in 2020 now, I strongly suggest finding a coach and I can tell you everything you think you want will change. In a great way!

When I first started working with a coach, I was in a role where I was told I would be promoted from EA to acting General Manager. There is a lot of pressure that comes with any management role and of course I felt that pressure. I was newly employed and already was being asked to take on such a big role.

I’d never done anything like this role before. Or had I…?

Every EA knows that we’re probably the most knowledgeable to be next in line to run the business, but because we aren’t ‘Qualified’ or have the certificates to match so we’re not even considered. We are the ones who make the boss look good. Those presentations he/she presents to new clients which they win, we created. The information researched and prepared for big meetings which end up in great partnering relationships, we created. The list goes on.

I’ve been working with small to medium businesses for the better half of my Admin career. I’ve done the corporate thing and it didn’t suit me. I know the ins and outs of business, so why did this role scare me? Is it the title? The responsibility? In the end, we worked out it was my confidence.

Long story short, my coach gave me a much clearer picture of what my future held and what I should focus on to in turn get the best results. It was more than just figuring out what my career had in store for me. We went deep. Personally and Mentally. And after working with a coach I know how valuable it is.

So when it came to planning for 2020, I thought I had a pretty good picture of what it looked like. So I was ready to get stuck in to the planner. But that coaching session ultimately changed my perception of 2020.

I want to do more. I want to exercise more. I want to spend more time with my family. I want to work more (crazy I know). I want more EA/PAs in Melb to know about MEAG. I want people to enjoy MEAG more (more than they already do). I want more happiness. I want more freedom. I want more structure. I want my children to learn more. I want to see more live music. I want to write more. I want to give more. I want to receive more.

Can you guess what I want from 2020? MORE.

That’s my word for 2020. MORE. What will yours be?

Oh and if you’re wondering what the planner was, it was the Leader In Heels 2020 Planner. You can get one here: https://shop.leadersinheels.com/?v=6cc98ba2045f
